The Neos Patreon page, showing some of the available tiers

The Neos Patreon allows users to support the development of Neos, while also receiving additional features and perks for their support

Below is a list of tiers and their features, with more information available in the features section.

  • Please keep in mind that the Neos credits that are currently listed here and on the Patreon site that you will receive as a monthly return are not exact values. It is safe to assume that you will receive approximately 50% of your monthly pledge as a return.

Tiers

Neos has a variety of tiers on Patreon with a variety of features available. We recommend reading the Patreon website for a full list. An old, on-wiki list can also be found on our Patreon/Tiers page.

Features

Patreon Only Content

Tiers with the Patreon Only Content perk will be given access to the Patreon public folder, which contains unique objects and worlds meant to be used only by Patreons. You will also be given access to additional content on the Neos Patreon

Storage

All tiers have a Storage perk.

By default, all registered Neos accounts are given 1 GB of storage space, however Patreon accounts receive an additional allotment of storage, based on the tier they have selected at the beginning of the month.

Neos account storage is used for all objects, worlds, messages, etc. that are saved to your Inventory

Neos Credits

Tiers with the Neos Credits perk will receive an allotment of Neos Credits per month, based on their current Patreon tier, which can be used in-game.

Neos Credits (Abbreviated NCR), is a cryptocurrency based on an Ethereum ERC20 Utility Token. At present, NCR is only useful in person-to-person transactions, however a marketplace and ways to facilitate transactions through LogiX are planned in future releases.

More detailed information on NCR can be found on the Neos Credits page.

Opting out of NCR

If you wish to opt out of receiving NCR as part of your Patreon reward, then you can do this using the Neos Bot in game.

  • Send /ncrOptOut to the user "Neos" within Neos. This will opt you out.
    • If you opt out, any Patreon NCR rewards you would've gotten while opted in will be lost and never minted in the first place. It will also not be granted to you if you re-opt in. It never gets created.
    • Existing NCR is kept on your account and not affected.
  • You can also opt back in at a later date. Send /ncrOptIn to the user "Neos" within Neos.
    • Following an opt-in, the next NCR minting batch will include your account again giving you the NCR for your active pledge again.
    • NCR that would have been included while your account was opted out will not be given to you. It is never created.

Priority Support

In this example, the number highlighted in red would result in the following priority command: /priorityIssue 149

Tiers with the Priority Support perk are able to request that their bug reports or feature requests on the Neos GitHub be given prioritization.

The level of prioritization given to any request is based on a mix of factors, including:

  • The Patreon tier of the person (or people) making the priority request
  • The overall number of Patreons impacted by the issue
  • The Severity of the issue
  • How difficult it is to implement, or fix

To request a particular issue be prioritized, send a message to the Neos Bot account in-game, with the following command: /priorityIssue <issue number>, where <issue number> is the number displayed next to the title on the Github issue page, as shown in the example on the right. If successful, the Neos Bot account will respond with the title of the issue you selected

  • Presently, you are only allowed one priority issue at a time - If you wish to change your vote, simply send the /priorityIssue command again, with a different issue number.
  • If you wish to check on the number of votes on your issue, or to view other prioritized issues, they are available using the Stats API > Priority Issues - please note that it may take a while for new votes to appear on issues.

Custom Icon Badge

From Gunter and above, a Patron with this perk will be able to request that Shifty add a custom 2D badge to their account by DMing her through the Discord with their Neos account name, and a file meeting the requirements, which can be found in the Badges page. The Icon badge is added to the list of badges above your name, in addition to any existing badges.

More information on Custom Icon Badges can be found in the Badges article.

Custom 3D Badge

From Neuromancer and above, a Patron with this perk will be able to request that Shifty add a custom 2D badge to their account by DMing her through the Discord with their Neos account name, and by messaging her a Neos object meeting the requirements, which can be found in the Badges page. The 3D badge is added to the list of badges above your name, in addition to any existing badges such as the Custom Icon Badge, if applicable.

More information on Custom 3D Badges can be found in the Badges article.

Headless Server

Tiers with the Headless Client/Server perk are given access to the headless-client channel on Discord, which gives access to the beta key for downloading it via Steam.

The headless client/server allows users to run a separate instance of Neos for hosting worlds unattended.

For more information, see Headless_Client/Server

Android Builds

Tiers with the Android Build perk are given access to the android-testers channel on Discord, which gives access to the beta key for downloading it via Steam.

These builds are extremely experimental, and may not be suitable for normal usage. You will experience frequent crashing and low framerates

Linux Builds

Tiers with the Linux Build perk are given access to the linux-preview channel on Discord, which gives access to downloads for the linux native build.

Unity SDK

Tiers with the Unity SDK perk are given access to the unity-sdk channel on Discord, which gives access to downloads for the preview Unity SDK. The SDK is, at present, mainly used for converting worlds from unity to Neos, and should not be used to create new content, as it has many limitations.

Exit Message

From Neuromancer and above, a Patron with this perk will be able to request that Shifty add 1 custom exit message to Neos by DMing her through the Discord with their Neos account name, and desired quote.

Some higher tiers offer a higher number of exit messages.

These messages are shown at random when shutting down Neos.

The messages need to be fairly short (maximum 2-3 sentences) and appropriate for the general public, but other than that they can be generally anything. However Neos reserves the right to deny or remove any potentially controversial messages. Steam announcement introducing exit messages.

Groups

From Architect and above, a Patron with this perk will be able to request that Shifty add a custom group with 10 GB of storage by DMing her through the Discord with your Neos account name, and desired group name.

Each group can be allocated a custom amount of space, up to the total of shared space available for that tier.

Group memberships can be managed as a group admin by messaging the Neos bot with the Neos Bot Group Commands.

NFT Assets

Tiers with custom NFT Assets will receive custom unique 3D objects in Neos, tailored to their particular tier.

NFT Assets/Artifacts are not currently available. Neos does not support NFTs right now. See Environmental Impact and Sustainability for more information.

Commercial Usage

Tiers with Commercial Usage, can use Neos for commercial purposes identical to those given to you if you were to purchase a Neos Pro License. For questions relating to Commercial usage please contact hello@neos.com.
