Introduction

Mute Helpers are a class of item that provide a means for a user to communicate outside of voice modes. Typically this is done in the form of a 'speech bubble' text interface which pops up with a simple notification sound before fading away. There exist several mute helpers with differing levels of functionality, including mute helpers with text-to-speech (TTS) capabilities through external services. Mute Helpers are often used both as an accessibility tool and as a convenient way to communicate in desktop mode.
