Questions
rampa_3 (UTC +1, DST UTC +2) — Today at 16:02 One kinda off-topic one: What is your stance on Discord forcing on us AI features that read everything we say with OPT-OUT, not opt-in system?
- We understand there is a broader conversation around AI tools and opt-in vs opt-out features, and why users might be upset at this one not being opt-in. We'll keep in mind how people view this.
Alps Splash — Today at 16:05 Hi Veer. What could you use AI to your benefits in moderation?
- Some discussion has occurred around using it to help with writing tasks, but there's no formal implementation at this stage.
Glavin — Today at 16:10 What are your thoughts on people using 3rd party moderation tools/systems that allows a player (especially a non-host) to silently target other players in the session and gives them an unfair and/or non-consentual permission(s) over another player(s). Thinking on the normal PSA on consent to touch/interact with other users, should it also require consent for other players to target you with a system? Targets a player to kick, kill, resize them, gain information on others, teleport them, change their locomotion, mute them, etc
- Moderation allows the use of self-made moderation tools and mods, but they are subject to the same guidelines as any other behaviour. If you are disrupting another user in a way that could constitute harassment, you will be violating the guidelines. The fact it is being done as part of a pseudo-block system would not be a defense.
Alps Splash — Today at 16:12 Could wanted posters be used to show who is ban in the session?
- We consider call-outs and witchhunts, or inciting harassment against another user, to be against the guidelines on harassment. Wanted posters could fall under this definition.
ThatRandomNerd — Today at 16:14 Would removing all of the colliders on your avatar (Nameplate included) be an issue?
- Rarely, but if it was done to evade moderation in a session or perhaps harass users in a game world by breaking it, it could be.
Glavin — Today at 16:21 Is it okay to NOT CONSENT to being targeted by other users systems by either asking them to create an exemption for the non consenting user or having a means for the non-consenting user of opting out of said system and requesting the user not attempt to circumvent the opt-out. (The opt-out system does NOT affect the other user nor their system in any way other than opting the specific person out of those kinds of systems with no other negative effects)
- You can certainly request to not be involved in other systems, but if they are not directly affecting you, it ends at making a request. If the system is affecting you, and not otherwise part of the game world, if they persist in doing so after you request they stop, they are entering into harassment.
Alps Splash — Today at 16:25 Could ads be considered harassment? ie pop ups and the whole eye tracking won't go away until you look at it for a certain amount of time?
- Similar to harassment above, if you have requested a user not use those systems on you, them persisting with it would count as harassment.
