Neos Credits/Steam Changes

You may have read recent information regarding Neos and its existence on Steam that are causing some changes in how we do things. This page outlines the changes and common questions.

What's Happening?

We're disabling NCR/KFC/CDFT functionality on the main Steam build of Neos. This will allow us to continue updating Neos via Steam.

What about Headless Client Builds?

We'll be offering those using the same mechanisms described for non-headless builds. Direct Links, Steam and Neosine when its ready.

Can I still use NCR/KFC/CDFT?

Yes, for now we have a standalone build. This is not Neosine, it's a temporary launcher, but has NCR/KFC/CDFT enabled.

In the future, we'll be looking at other solutions such as our custom launcher Neosine.

What happens to our existing NCR/KFC/CDFT Balances

Nothing, it is still yours. You still have full rights to it.

Your choice of using the Steam build or the standalone build does not affect this.

What happens to our Patreon awarded NCR/KFC/CDFT

Nothing, it is still yours. You still have full rights to it.

Your choice of using the Steam build or the standalone build does not affect this.

What happens to future/upcoming Patreon mints/awards?

These will go ahead as per normal, you'll have full rights to it and receive your usual allotted amount.

If I send tip/send NCR or KFC to someone using the Steam build what happens?

They receive the NCR/KFC as normal but cannot access it. They'll get a message letting them know something has happened but not what specifically happened. If they're interested they can run the non-steam version.

Doesn't this mean NCR/KFC/CDFT has lost its value?

No, we'll be exploring new ways for users to play, launch and keep Neos up to date that do not rely on Steam. These builds will contain NCR/KFC/CDFT functionality and be powered by our custom launcher Neosine.

What happens to out of Neos transactions, balances or mints?

Nothing, you're still free to hold, transact, sell, mint etc NCR/KFC/CDFT using non-Neos transactions.

What is Neosine?

Neosine is our work in progress custom Neos launcher that allows us to ship various Neos builds and systems directly to you.

Will the Steam build be compatible with/allow users to play with users who use the non-Steam/Neosine build?

Yes, we'll strive to maintain compatibility as much as we can. Neosine will actually help with this.

Does Neos use NFTs?

No

What differences are there between the Steam and Standalone build?

The only differences are:

The Standalone Build

The Standalone build has KFC and NCR enabled as described above.
The Standalone build does not require Steam.
The Standalone build does not register some handlers with windows, so web links such as: http://cloudx.azurewebsites.net/open/session/S-U-BigGreenWolfy:SyncLounge will not work.
- You can still join sessions via many other means

The Steam Build

The Steam build requires Steam.
The Stream build does not have KFC and NCR enabled.
The Steam build registers some handlers with Windows, allowing for web-based session links to work. e.g. http://cloudx.azurewebsites.net/open/session/S-U-BigGreenWolfy:SyncLounge

There are no performance, optimization or advantages over one or the other, it is your choice which you use.
